The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) includes toilets in its regulations, and Niagara is proud to offer many options for those seeking toilets that meet ADA standards.
The latest standards for ADA toilets mandate that the height of the toilet, from the floor to the top of the seat, must be 17 inches at minimum, but no taller than 19 inches. The taller height makes sitting down and standing up much easier compared to shorter models. Keep in mind that toilet seat heights are available in a variety of heights, check carefully to stay within the standards if you are removing the manufacturer’s seat. ADA requirements also state the flush handle must be placed within easy reach on the front, or wide side, of the tank.
For private homeowners, it is not a requirement to install an ADA toilet or to follow the other ADA bathroom requirements, as they are only required for businesses. However, there has been a growing trend of homeowners evaluating if there is a benefit to having one available in the home. Family members or friends may need the additional height that an ADA toilet provides, plus some simply prefer the added comfort a taller toilet provides.
Niagara’s ADA compliant toilets meet all the federally mandated requirements, while still maintaining the power and efficiency that Niagara is known for. ADA options are available in all four Niagara toilet lines.
